Description

Title: Direct and inverse problems for viscoelastic models in fault detection

Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss the well-posedness of two viscoelastic models from the geophysics literature for seismic fault modeling. I will then turn to a geometric inverse problem—recovering faults location from GPS data—derive the corresponding shape derivative, and present a gradient-based reconstruction method. If time permits, I will conclude with ongoing work on finite element method for elasticity systems in domains with corners.
