Title: Predictive Modeling, Penalized Regression, and JMP tips -- What Statisticians Have to Offer to Data Science

Abstract: In this talk I will cover popular predictive models and model comparisons as a springboard to show some common modeling mistakes. We will explore penalized regression models (LASSO and Elastic Net) to shed some light on these model problems, and use model visualization tools in JMP to explore the interpretation of tree-based methods, neural networks, machine learning models, and generalized regression.
