Abstract: The National Institute of Health (NIH) provides leadership and direction to programs designed to improve the health of the Nation by conducting and supporting research through grants, contracts and cooperative agreement. The National Institutes of Health is made up of 27 different components called Institutes and Centers. Each has its own specific research agenda. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is one of the institutes.
Different grant mechanisms such us: research (R), Career Development (K), Fellowship (F), Training (T) will be discussed. I will discuss the grant application process at NIAID with special focus on Statistical Methods Research in Infectious Diseases Research.
