Description
Title: Using Statistics to Support Polio Eradication
Abstract: Tremendous progress has been made towards the eradication of poliovirus, with both wild type 2 and type 3 polioviruses eradicated and type 1 endemic in only two countries. Despite this progress, the spread of circulating type 2 vaccine-derived polioviruses (cVDPV2) represents a major threat to the complete eradication of poliovirus. From spatial prioritization of interventions in Pakistan to the development and roll out of an oral polio vaccine with improved genetic stability, in this talk I will provide examples of the use of statistics in support of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.
