Drs. Jian Zhao (PhD 2016), Thomas Mathew, and Ionut Bebu are the recipients of the American Statistical Association's 2021 W. J. Youden Award in Interlaboratory Testing. The award is in recognition of their joint article Accurate confidence intervals for inter-laboratory calibration and common mean estimation published in the January 2021 issue of Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems.
The award committee was unanimous in its recognition of the quality and importance of the article in the context of interlaboratory studies. The research reported in that article is based on Dr. Jian Zhao's doctoral dissertation, carried out under the joint supervision of Drs. Thomas Mathew and Ionut Bebu.
