Title
Towards Actuarially Sound Car Insurance Models in the Philippines: The Road So Far
Abstract
Car insurance premium pricing in the Philippines remains to be based only on the value of the vehicle insured and does not account for risk factors such as driver's age, gender, driving experience, and other variables that have become integral in premium pricing of car insurance policies in other countries.

This presentation summarizes research activities conducted towards solving this problem, starting with a small survey study conducted to convince the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association (PIRA) of the importance of developing accurate risk models for car insurance premium pricing and concluding with current directions in partnership with one nonlife insurance company.

Title
A Generalized Model of Flocking
Abstract
Flocking is the terminology used to describe the phenomenon where self propelled agents stay together by  using only environmental information and simple rules. In this talk, we present the  Motsch  and Tadmor model of flocking derived from the model of Cucker and Smale. We will then generalize this model by considering the coefficient of proportionality of the acceleration to be a function of time and to depend on each agent.

The study of this model  shows that, flocking can be conditional or unconditional . Some MATLAB simulations will be presented.
