Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) courses:

  • Economics (ECON 101 and ECON 102)
  • Accounting and Finance (ECON 121, ECON 122, ECON 374)
  • Mathematical Statistics (STAT 453)

Exam prep:

  • P exam (Probability: STAT 451)
  • FM exam (Financial Mathematics: STAT 365)
  • IFM exam (Investment and Financial Markets: ECON 477)

Other important skills:

  • Communication, written and spoken (ENGL 393)
  • Data manipulation/coding especially in Excel, Python, or R (CMSC 201, CMSC 411, and/or CMSC 436)
  • Data analysis/Qualitative-Quantitative bridge (STAT 454)
  • Stochastic processes (MATH 452)

Milestones:

  • Complete at least one exam before the beginning of 3rd year
  • Internship summer before final year (deadlines are generally September/October the previous fall)
  • Complete 2-3 exams before graduation
